Mission & Vision

𖣠 Mission

The mission of the Autonomous Systems & Reliability Laboratory (ASRLab) is to advance the development of reliable, safe, and trustworthy autonomous and intelligent systems through research in verification and validation, software testing, dependability, and artificial intelligence.

ASRLab develops methods, software tools, datasets, and experimental environments that make system reliability measurable and support the systematic testing and evaluation of complex software-intensive and cyber-physical systems.

The laboratory aims to bridge academic research and real-world engineering by transforming research outcomes into practical approaches that can be applied in collaboration with industry and the wider research community.

👁 Vision

Our vision is to become a leading research laboratory in the verification, validation, and dependable engineering of autonomous and AI-enabled systems, contributing to systems that can be developed, tested, and deployed with greater confidence.

ASRLab seeks to advance an integrated research environment where software engineering, digital twins, robotics, trustworthy AI, and experimental validation work together throughout the system lifecycle.

Through open research, international collaboration, and strong links with industry, we aim to contribute to the next generation of reliable autonomous systems and the engineering practices required to build them.

⛉ Our Principles

Reliability by Design
Reliability and dependability should be considered throughout the engineering lifecycle, not only after deployment.

Evidence-Based Validation
Testing, simulation, fault injection, digital twins, and experimental validation provide measurable evidence about system behaviour.

Open and Collaborative Research
We support collaboration with academia and industry through research projects, open-source tools, datasets, and shared experimental environments.
